Living in 15th and 15th neighborhood
One of SLC’s unique strengths is the availability of neighborhoods as walkable, sustainable, diversified communities with plenty of amenities that one expects living in any metro area. The 15th and 15th neighborhood, once a quiet, even ignored corner of the city’s larger Sugar House district, is home to an affordable collection of bungalow homes done in the Arts and Crafts style. In recent decades, the neighborhood has collaborated successfully improving storefronts and businesses.
15th and 15th area schools
Many students attend Uintah Elementary, which celebrated its centennial in 2015, as well as Bonneville Elementary, Clayton Middle School and East High School, featured in the popular Disney film High School Musical. Westminster College, which is among the top preferred schools for Winter Olympics athletes, is ranked by U.S. News and World Report in the top 20 of Best Colleges in Regional Universities for the U.S. West. The University of Utah also is located just two to three minutes from the neighborhood.
Shopping in 15th and 15th neighborhood
The small business district is home to some of SLC’s most successful locally owned businesses, including the King’s English Bookshop which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. There also are several highly-acclaimed restaurants including The Paris Bistro, Zinc Bar and Grill as well as Mazza, which features Mediterranean cuisine. A popular neighborhood hangout is the shop and café in Caputo’s Deli, with a popular seasonal menu many highlighting tastings. The patio also hosts live music during the warm weather months.
