Living in the Millcreek neighborhood
The newest city to be incorporated in Utah, Millcreek is now a large residential suburban community located between Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake on the north and Murray and Holladay on the south. Millcreek’s centralized location in the Salt Lake valley means every major urban amenity and access to the mountains for hiking and recreation as well as the area’s world-class ski resorts are just minutes away. As in many other Salt Lake valley neighborhoods, Millcreek encompasses a neighborhood historic district designated by the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Evergreen Avenue Historic District includes a diverse stock of residential houses built from the 1860s to the middle of the last century, which have been well preserved. Millcreek has a substantial and stable stock of housing, most of it built in the postwar boom between 1950 and 1975, along with newer residences.
Millcreek area schools
Given the large number of single-family households, Millcreek is home to numerous public and private schools. These include four elementary schools (Crestview, James E. Moss, Mill Creek and Spring Lane), two junior high schools (Olympus and Evergreen), two private schools (Sego Lily and Summit Christian Academy), a charter academy for 6-12 (Beehive Science and Technology Academy) and two high schools (Olympus and Highland). Millcreek’s central location means access to major colleges and universities including The University of Utah, Westminster College and Salt Lake Community College is convenient and quick.
